  • 98" DHC 4 Caribou

    En odd flymaskin som har ligget i bakhodet en stund og som ble handlet for en stund siden er nå til montering. Masse om og men for å finne fremdrift. Cowlingene er utrolig små, RCV 60 går inn men ikke mange suksess historier å oppdrive. Tenkte lenge 2 stabile OS 95 men de stikker altså 4 cm ut i tillegg til eksos som måtte slynges ut og inn igjen. Derfor endte det opp med elektro oppsett. 2 Dualsky komboer på 6s og som får Ramoser skala propellere. Alt til sitt bruk tenker nå jeg også får glow onanistene synes hva de vil. Hahahaha

    98 inch DHC Caribou was put forward in late 2011 by Simon Harvey and Anthony Ogle, who both worked for Australian Air Force. They supplied all the drawings and detailed photos. The demo plane was built up in Sept.2012 by Simon. The maiden flight had to be postponed few times as Simon was slightly injured and could not test the plane in schedule until early November 2012. The demo plane was successfully tested on 08 Nov.2012.

    Due to new fiberglass material (Same as the material for UAV) used for this model plane, now the weight is lighter. *Scale Retracts optional

    Caribou aircraft history:

    The de Havilland Canada (DHC) Caribou was the workhorse of the Australian military for more than forty years. Its main operational role was in support of the Australian Army. Although slow and noisy, the Caribou was a versatile transport aircraft, capable of short take-offs and landings on unprepared runways. Its rear-opening ramp doors allowed personnel and cargo to be unloaded quickly. The Caribou was ordered in the early 1960s to replace the reliable, though aging, Dakota aircraft.

    The RAAF received its first Caribou on 25 February 1964 when A4-134 was formally handed over at the DHC plant at Downsville, near Toronto. This aircraft along with A4-140 and A4-147 was then flown from Canada to Australia arriving at the Richmond RAAF base on 22 April. In July 1964 Caribous being ferried from Canada to Australia were diverted to Butterworth, Malaysia, where they became the basis of RAAF, Transport Flight Vietnam (RTFV), which later became 35 Squadron. Further Caribous were delivered to Vietnam, while those that reached Australia went to 38 Squadron.

    In addition to their work in Australia and Vietnam, RAAF Caribous were flown across Asia and the Pacific from 1965 carrying out much support and relief work. In Papua New Guinea, Caribous were used for civil assistance while in East Timor the aircraft flew mercy flights to refugees. Between 1975 and 1978 Caribous operated with the United Nations Military Observer Group, supplying observation posts along the India-Pakistan border. In more recent years, the Caribous have flown famine-relief operations to Papua New Guinea and Irian Jaya, tsunami relief to Papua New Guinea and have also been used in East Timor and the Solomon Islands.

        Husker jeg ble imponert over denne som fullsize i "frozen in time b-29" filmene, tviler på at modellen tåler like mye.
        Får jeg sett den i lufta noen gang, får jeg heller bruke hørselvern.

                      Modellen er både bygd og flydd men er litt på etterslep med byggebilder etter at det H******* Tapatalk krasjer hver gang jeg prøver å legge inn bilder.....


                      Men ihvertfall noen inflight bilder i ganske dunkelt vær. Modellen fløy rimelig godt, overraskende godt faktisk. Mine antakelser av at CG var feil i manualen (110-120mm av 300 mm korde) var feil. Jeg la det på 100 mm for å være litt safe men har tatt vekk det meste av bly og kan nok ta resten uten problemer også.

                      Propellene er foreløpig APC men nye Ramoser treblader med ganske skalalike hubber er underveis. Litt detaljer etc kommer i løpet av vinteren.
