YOUR NEW BATTERY PACKS COME PARTLY CHARGED, DO NOT EXPECT, OR TRY AND FORCE THEM, TO ACCEPT LARGE AMOUNTS OF CHARGE BEFORE THEY ARE FIRST FLOWN. ON YOUR FIRST FLIGHT, TAKE IT EASY, FLY 5-6 MINUTES, LAND AND COOL OFF FOR 15 MINUTES. CHECK WITH A DIGITAL VOLT METER THAT YOU ARE WELL ABOVE 3 VOLTS PER CELL, FLY 5-6 MINUTES, LAND WAIT 15, REPEAT. ONCE YOU HAVE FLOWN AND TESTED TO BETWEEN 3.5 AND 3 VOLTS PER CELL, GO FOR YOUR FIRST CHARGE.

Align sier flere steder: "Recommend to full charge a brand new battery before using and only discharge the battery 50% for first 5 times to make a good efficiency of the battery".
En annen batteriguru, Isidor Buchmann sier "Priming will make little difference because the maximum capacity of lithium-ion is available right from the beginning".
The important thing in any event is to follow the pack producers advice otherwise we will end up 'blue in the face' trying to reconcile all the divergent opinions ad nausiam...

Her er svaret:
Hello Kjetil
A lipo battery is received by you at approximately 70% charge. It is no problem to fully charge it before using it.
Although it is not necessary to be gentle to a new lipo pack, it can help condition the chemistry slightly by keeping the first couple of cycles gentle.

What is the best way to handle a new lipo batteri. Start by charging or discharing ? Is it a good idea to keep the current low on the first cycle ?
