    Futaba 9C misbehaving

    Hi guys,

Forgive me for writing in English, I'm suffering from tendinitis so I am using voice recognition to write this post. Feel free to reply in the region.

I have a QAV500 that I control with a Futaba 9C modified with a spectrum module. I was just out flying when my quad suddenly dropped like a stone. From what I can tell this occurred when I used one of the switches in the upper right-hand corner of the radio to switch flight mode on the quad. This apparently caused the throttle output from the receiver to drop to 0 for a period. The radio also omitted a high-pitched tone for a few seconds when this happened.

I have been able to reproduce this in my workshop by looking at the receiver output when switching modes on the transmitter.

I've not been able to find any reference to this high-pitched tone in the manual, and there were no error messages on the display. Do you have any ideas of what this is? Should I replace my transmitter? I've experienced the same problem with two different receivers now.2

The channel is a mix between two switches, so I haven't tried changing this around yet. I will try to do so.

I see you have already answered my follow-up question, which radio should I replace it with . Is there any specific reason you mention the 18Mz?

Do you think I would be happy with a DX9?

If I was able to consistently repeat the glitch I would agree with you that it is a weird mix. However, I have only been able to repeat it on a few occasions, and when it occurs it resolves itself within 0.25 to a few seconds. Also, I have never had this problem before, and I have not altered the programming for the model in a very long time.
