    Best temperatur for Oracover?

Firstly, it is important to know that opaque Oracover has a much higher melting point than the transparent (low temperature) type.

To re-tighten the existing covering on an ARF, it is often better to use a hot air pistol, providing the hot air stream is not concentrated on one small area - keep the hot air pistol in motion over the film surface all the time.

If a hot iron is used, a soft cotton glove is recommended to prevent scratching of the fine gloss surface of the film.

Bubbles are most often the result of trapped air and a pin prick into the bubble before applying heat will allow this air to escape.

In general, an iron is used to seal film covering around the edges and the warm air pistol to shrink the film over the underlying structure.

The temperatures given by the manufacturers are a guide, only the actual temperature for a specific job should first be approached with caution the first time and when established, the position may be marked on the tool for future reference.

To calibrate the temperature scale on the iron, a drop of water on the iron whilst the iron is heating up will indicate 100C when the water begins to boil.

Be particularly careful in areas where two film covers join and overlap, here it is very easy to apply a little too much heat with the result that the two colours shrink back and separate, leaving the underlaying structure in daylight.

It all sounds very difficult, but in reality quite straight forward if a little caution and patience is used...
